Bone density scanning & osteoporosis assistance

Apollo Health offers comprehensive osteoporosis screening and treatment options. As we get older our bones become brittle, and without the right checks and treatment, it can lead to a range of additional health challenges. Ominously labelled the ‘silent disease’ as osteoporosis has no apparent early symptoms.

The only way to determine the onset of the condition is to have regular bone density tests performed by a specialist. You can also avoid the onset of this debilitating disease. Visit us today and chat to our team of qualified doctors, who will advise you accordingly.

Using state-of-the-art technology at our fully equipped clinic, allows Apollo Health’s specialist doctors to make comprehensive osteoporosis diagnosis. A procedure that measures bone density and helps us understand if you’re at risk of brittle bones and loss of tissue.

What is Osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis leads to a higher risk of fractures (or breaks) than normal bones. It occurs when bones lose minerals, such as calcium, faster than the body can replace them, leading to a loss of bone thickness (bone mass or density). As a result, bones become thinner and less dense so that even a minor bump or fall can result in a fracture.

What is a bone density test?

A bone density test is a simple scan that measures the thickness of your bones (usually at the hip and spine). The results of this test show if your bones are in the range of normal, low bone density or osteoporosis. The scan takes about five minutes and involves lying on a flatbed while the scanner passes over you. There is no cost to you for the scan, and it’s painless.
